CivilPlan Consultants Ltd, a multi-disciplinary land development consultancy, and Haines Planning Consultants Ltd, a specialist planning consultancy, have announced they have now merged their organisations to establish a new leader in the industry.

Initially founded in 2014, CivilPlan has been growing its client base and strengthening its offerings. Starting with quality planning and civil engineering services, the firm then expanded into land surveying. Now, director and founder Mike Smith wants to continue that growth with Haines.

“Not only will this merger increase our diversity, but it’s an enhancement of our deeply rooted values,” says Mike Smith. “Both of our organisations are heavily client focused, and always strive to do the utmost for them. By coming together, we are strengthening those values and skills to achieve better growth.”

For over 25 years, Haines has become one of New Zealand’s leading planning consultancies. Working with both institutional and private sector clients, Haines leverages its expansive knowledge of planning to optimise its clients’ property portfolios through careful attention to project formulation.

“The merger with CivilPlan brings added strength to our boutique planning team, while also enabling us to provide an expanded in-house service offering to our highly valued clients”, says director David Haines.

Both firms have established reputations for being home to world-class experts that achieve excellent results for their clients. With their aligned values and a united team of directors, the two firms will now have a broader range of services and enhanced delivery.

The merger achieves the strategic objectives of both companies by diversifying the planning capabilities within CivilPlan, as well as expanding the workforce resources of Haines. As the companies move forward as one, it will now be operating as CivilPlan Consultants Limited, with Haines branding continuing to appear on some documentation through the Planning division for a period of time.

By capitalising on Haines’ extensive national presence and combining the expertise of both, this expanded organisation unlocks new opportunities for clients to access services that will drive exceptional outcomes.

David says, “We are excited that our merged entity will now be operating both from its Manukau Head Office and downtown CBD offices, further positioning the business for continued growth.”
