Reflecting on his career, David shared:
“Planning has given me an intellectually stimulating and challenging career, filled with variety and growth. I’ve learned much from clients, colleagues, and the ever-evolving planning environment. I’m proud to have contributed meaningfully to many projects across New Zealand.”
David’s legacy lives on in the team he helped shape and the quality of work that defines CivilPlan’s approach to planning.
Natasha Rivai, who has worked closely with David over the past year, now steps into the Director of Planning role. With close to 20 years of experience, Natasha is widely respected for her strategic thinking, leadership, and deep industry knowledge across both the private and public sectors.
“It’s been a privilege to work alongside David – both early in my career and more recently through this transition,” said Natasha. “His integrity and professionalism have set the bar for all of us. I’m looking forward to leading our planning team into this next chapter as we continue to grow and support our clients through Auckland’s evolving development landscape.”
Mike Smith, CivilPlan’s Managing Director, added:
“David has played a critical role in building the strength of our planning practice. Natasha is a natural successor – principled, talented, and forward-thinking. We’re excited about what’s ahead.”
CivilPlan extends its heartfelt thanks to David for his decades of service and warmly welcomes Natasha into her new leadership role as the firm continues delivering smart, sustainable land development solutions across New Zealand.
